Land Clearing in McAllen & the Valley
Half-acre lot outside the city with ten years of volunteer mesquite. An old grove parcel in transition. A new-build homesite that needs to be builder-ready. Valley land clearing is its own discipline — irrigation-aware, species-aware, and priced by what actually grows here.
What We Clear
- Residential lots — overgrown backyard acreage, corner lots gone feral, pre-fence cleanup. We cut, chip, and haul so you're left with open ground, not a brush pile.
- New-build prep — clearing to the builder's spec: trees marked keep/remove, pads leveled of stumps, access lanes opened. We coordinate around survey stakes and utility locates.
- Old grove and orchard parcels — retired citrus and grapefruit blocks around Mission, Alton, and La Feria are a real category of job: rows of small trunks, thorn regrowth, drip lines still in the ground. We clear to grade and can stage it so usable wood and any saleable material are separated first.
- Commercial pads and retention areas — sightline clearing along 281 and Ware Road frontage, drainage and resaca-buffer maintenance, insurance-driven defensible-space work around structures.
Two Ways to Clear: Cut-and-Haul vs. Mastication
Cut-and-haul is the clean finish: trees felled, brush chipped on-site, trunks loaded, stumps ground, and the ground raked level. It's the right choice when the next step is construction, sod, or landscaping — and it's what most McAllen residential lots need.
Mastication (mulching) grinds brush and small trees where they stand and leaves the mulch on the ground. It's faster and cheaper per acre, excellent for ranch edges, acreage fences, and wildfire-fuel reduction, but it doesn't remove stumps or big hardwoods, and the mulch bed takes a season or two to settle. We'll tell you straight which method fits the parcel and the next use.
The Valley-Specific Stuff Other Crews Miss
- Irrigation and drainage. Valley parcels sit on top of EBID laterals, private drip lines, and drainage-district channels. We locate before we cut, and we don't drive heavy equipment onto buried lines "to see what happens."
- Resaca buffers. Properties along resacas often have setback and vegetation requirements from drainage districts or HOAs. We clear to the line, not through it — and we'll flag anything that looks permit-sensitive.
- Keep-worthy natives. A mature ebony or anacua in the middle of a parcel is worth designing around. Mark the keepers and we'll work around them.
- Citrus disease etiquette. When clearing old grove trees, we don't drag suspect citrus debris across healthy groves — greening is a regional problem and equipment hygiene matters.

Every clearing job is quoted on a site visit — walk the parcel with us, point at what stays, and we'll price what goes. Aerial photos help but never replace boots on the ground for dense parcels.
